AI analysis

Plotic uses AI to review a project, never to change it by itself. Every finding is a proposal with an explanation, confidence level, and links to the scenes that support it.

Before you start

Open Account → Artificial intelligence and use Enable AI. You can choose:

  • Plotic AI, an optional subscription also available on Free without upgrading cloud storage. Free and Individual cost 2 EUR or USD per month or 20 per year; Studio costs 1 per included user per month or 10 per year. Each included user adds 50 standard and 5 deep analyses per month. Local and cloud analyses share this quota.
  • BYOK, available on every plan with no Plotic AI charge. Configure OpenAI or an OpenAI-compatible public HTTPS base URL, model, and API key. For example, DeepSeek can use https://api.deepseek.com.

The Studio administrator decides whether AI is enabled and which users can run Plotic AI. Turning it off or switching to BYOK removes the add-on without cancelling the Cloud plan. BYOK keys are encrypted on the server and never sent back to the browser. Plotic AI uses Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, the evolution of Vertex AI, in a European region and receives only the context required for each analysis.

AI also works with local projects after signing in and enabling BYOK or Plotic AI. Each request asks for consent before sending only the context needed for that analysis to Plotic's server and the selected provider. The server keeps usage metadata, not the local screenplay or findings; findings are stored in this browser. AI needs a connection even when the project itself is local.

Connect and test

  1. Choose OpenAI if you have an OpenAI key. Enter the model you want to use, such as gpt-5-mini, and paste the API key.
  2. Choose OpenAI compatible for DeepSeek or another provider with the same API. Enter the base URL from its documentation without adding /chat/completions. For DeepSeek, use https://api.deepseek.com.
  3. Enter the provider's exact model name and API key.
  4. Choose Test connection. Plotic sends a minimal request to check the URL, model, and key, but does not save anything yet. Save the provider after a successful test.

The test may consume a minimal response from your provider. If it fails, check the URL, model, key permissions, and the provider's documentation.

Analysis modes

Open Analysis from the editor's left sidebar.

Structure

This proposes possible narrative milestones with supporting scenes.

  • Three acts looks for setup, turning points, midpoint, climax, and resolution.
  • Sequences follows the progression through consecutive dramatic units without forcing three acts.
  • Free analysis reviews the overall structure without a specific template.

Planned Beat Board beats are planning context, not screenplay facts until they exist in written scenes.

Characters

This looks for possible inconsistencies in what a character does or knows across scenes. It uses only written scenes as evidence. A contradiction can be intentional, such as character development, so Plotic proposes it for your review instead of declaring it an error.

Review a sequence

Open a sequence in the left sidebar and open AI review inside its profile. This mode limits context to the selected scene and its immediate neighbours. It reviews dramatic objective, conflict, clarity, dialogue, and immediate continuity without rewriting the screenplay. Progress and results remain in that profile; only the latest completed review is shown and it can contain zero to three relevant findings.

Reviewing findings

A finding can link to several scenes. Each button identifies the scene number and heading so you can inspect the evidence precisely. Findings from a sequence review appear inside that sequence's profile.

  • Confirm keeps the finding as a valid observation.
  • Intentional records that the change or contradiction belongs to the story.
  • Dismiss removes it from the active review.

If the screenplay changes after an analysis, findings become stale. They cannot be confirmed or classified until you run a fresh analysis.

While it runs

Analysis runs in the background. The panel shows whether the request is being sent, queued, or processed by the model, plus elapsed time. You can keep writing or close the panel: the analysis continues and appears when it finishes.

Results are generated in Plotic's active language when you start the analysis.

Write at your own pace. Keep your project yours.
